Description: Photographing the Taj Mahal had been a lifelong dream of mine. It’s truly one of the world’s iconic architectural landmarks with its rhythmic combination of solids and voids, concave and convex surfaces, and light and shadow used to accent its aesthetics. Requiring 16 years to construct, it serves as a memorial to Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s wife who passed in 1631. As a photographer, I knew the white marbled edifice would alter its hues and tones depending on the ambient light, so I planned my shoot for early morning. Queueing up early was also a necessity since it’s such a popular tourist destination and getting a prime spot to capture its symmetry proved quite challenging. In the end it was all worth the effort. When I snapped the shutter on yet another one of the new seven wonders of the world, I knew there was some real magic in the frame.
