This work was exhibited at my solo show “Window with a View” in Turkey in 2025.
This work is part of my ongoing series with windows, where the window becomes both a frame and a threshold — a quiet place where inner and outer realities meet. In this painting, the candlelight reflects on the glass and spreads into the night, echoing the visual memory of countless evenings in Ukraine during blackouts. Those moments of darkness heightened the sensitivity to even the smallest sources of light, turning every flame into a symbol of presence, continuity, and hope.
The window here is not simply an architectural element; it is a witness. It holds the contrast between stillness inside and the vast landscape outside, inviting the viewer to pause and experience the fragile balance between vulnerability and quiet resilience. The soft glow of the candle becomes a gentle reminder of how light — even the smallest one — transforms the space, keeps us grounded, and opens an inner view that extends beyond the visible horizon.
