Artwork description
This linocut is from the Pecos Wilderness series. I took a side trail that was well worn indicating something, a spring or specular view of the Santa Fe ski basin, might greet me. There was an intersecting path, one well traveled and one less, almost unnoticeable, moving in a northern direction. I took the smaller one as I entered deeper into the forest. What I found was a tangle of underbrush getting more and more difficult to penetrate. I then realized I had crossed a deer trail and slowly moved through the thicket. I came to a flat pine carpeted clearing. The pine trees hung low like a canopy hovering over something special. It was indeed. I could make out the shadow of a form molded into the bed of pine needles, that of a young deer.
