Thérèse is a free representation of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux.
The rose plays an important role in the iconography dedicated to Saint Thérèse. We know these statues where the saint of Lisieux holds a crucifix against her chest which she covers with roses.
She declared “after my death, I will rain graces on the world like a shower of roses”
Therese the Little (nickname due to her modesty) is here dressed in a very modern way but which nevertheless recalls the outfit of the Carmelites.
