In creating this portrait, I sought to capture a moment of silent strength—a figure weathered by time, yet unwavering. The subject, a Native elder, is portrayed in profile to emphasize his dignity and enduring connection to the land. I used thick, textured brushstrokes and a muted palette to express the ruggedness of his features and the wisdom etched into his skin. The background is intentionally abstract and subdued, allowing his presence to command the composition. Details like the braided hair and traditional garments were painted with care to honor cultural authenticity. My goal was to let this image speak beyond words—a quiet but powerful voice carried by the wind.
