Original artwork description:

This is the second of two images that work well as a diptych or small series.

Parched landscapes and visible climate change were the inspiration for the two images ‘The tired river 1 + 2’.
Climate change is a topic that is constantly in the news and is becoming increasingly visible to all of us. My specific memory was of a hot summer when even the large and fast-flowing River Rhine was so dry that you could walk to the historic Mäuseturm, which stands on a tiny island in the Rhine.
It seemed to me that even the river was tired of constantly reminding us to be environmentally conscious.
Both paintings were already part of an exhibition at Galerie 68 in Mannheim, Germany. In the last photo, you can see me in front of the two paintings, which gives you a good idea of their size and how perfectly they harmonise with each other.

About me:
I spent my childhood and youth on a farm. It was a picture-perfect life. Endless fields surrounded our family home, with grass so tall that little Jutta was swallowed up by it like an impenetrable jungle. But there was also a lot of work for us three children to do. I loved haymaking: the smell of dried grass, hot summer days, and our father's talent for turning this strenuous work into a game with a competition made it almost fun.

Throughout my school career, I was repeatedly recognized for my artistic talent.

Everything I do in painting today is characterized by intuition and concentration on the result. When I paint, there is only the now, the present moment. And that can be very challenging. It demands my complete attention; it wants to be well represented. The moment can come easily and be kind to me, but it can also feel difficult and admonishing: Is this really the best you can do? This is the challenge I set myself with every painting: I want to improve from painting to painting, to give the canvas the expression that you, the viewer, deserve.
