When I was creating this work, I had two passages from Scripture in mind:
“But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.”
— Malachi 4:2 (NIV)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
I would like these words to be in your mind as you contemplate my painting.
This is not an icon.
It is a breath of fresh air when it feels like there is no air left to breathe.
It is peace in the soul — something we so deeply lack.
This is our Lord Jesus, whose Birthday we will be celebrating.
He is alive.
He calls, He loves, He invites, He speaks to you personally:
come to Me, I will help you, I will give you rest, and I will heal you.
Why the sea at sunset?
Because it is one of my favorite places and one of the most beautiful times of the day.
It is a moment and a space of peace that already bring joy by themselves, for this is God’s masterpiece for us.
And God loves you — and me — very much.
My work here is a single copy of my unique and original handiwork. It is made on special, high-quality 100% cotton paper designed for watercolor from the world’s best manufacturers and has a density of 300 grams/meter.
