Original artwork description
I have had the idea for this image in my head for over a year. I think the reason it took me so long to finally get it down on canvas, might be because when depicting a figure such as Christ, that has been already depicted so many times throughout history, and whom most people have their own particular idea about what He looked like, it can be daunting.
But with the world in such a state of turmoil these days, this image of a tiny boat in a storm, resonated for me more than ever. If we ever needed someone to be able to simply raise a hand, and calm the raging storms around each of us, it's now. So I believe- regardless of your faith, creed, belief or not -in the Prophet or Christ who once lived on earth, we can all find a comfort in such a picture as this.
People will question my painting this man of Middle Eastern descent, with blue eyes. There is a scripture that reads “We were all made in His image”. Since I have blue eyes, I chose to reference this verse in that detail.
The canvas is painted around the edges so it can be hung, unframed.
