The Soft Geometry of Summer (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Irina Plaksina

I created this still life inspired by the warmth of simple, everyday moments—fruit on a table, sunlight, and a sense of quiet joy. The composition centers on citrus fruits, especially tangerines or mandarins, scattered and gathered in a patterned bowl. I paired them with a decorative blue vessel and stylized butterflies, symbols of lightness and transformation. The bright orange and deep blue palette reflects my love for contrast, balance, and the feeling of summer lingering in memory.
I enjoy working with mixed media, combining acrylic, wax pencil and collage elements to create texture, color and a light sense of whimsy. Paper for collage elements is handmade and made by me.
