"The Sisters" brings Antonino Puliafico’s gestural approach to the human figure, colour and expressive gesture into an original oil painting on canvas. Measuring 100 × 120 cm and dated 2025, the work balances immediate visual impact with close-range surface detail.
Material presence is essential: palette knife and impasto give the work a layered surface in which gesture and colour remain clearly visible.
Thick palette knife strokes define peaks and clouds alike, merging into a dance of purples, blues, and soft whites. The foreground, dotted with brilliantly hued foliage, amplifies the composition’s energy, suggesting a spirited transition from the calm valley to the lofty summits.
