This painting has a magic of it's own with gold and bright blue tones. By creating layers of colour and texture I have captured the quiet presence of a forest that feels both real and imagined. Turquoise tones run through the work like a breath of sky and water, a colour long associated with calm, renewal, and a sense of protection. Working in an impressionistic way, I wanted the scene to feel gentle and contemplative, inviting the viewer to pause and step into a moment of stillness. Soft golds and touches of light drift through the surface, catching the eye and bringing a sense of warmth and freshness, as though the forest itself is quietly glowing.
This is a one-of-a-kind original painting, created using high-quality acrylic paints on a circular canvas. The process begins with time spent observing the landscape, making notes and taking photographs before returning to the studio. From there, I work intuitively, laying down base layers with a brush, then gradually building texture using impasto techniques and a palette knife. I draw on optical colour mixing inspired by the Impressionists, alongside traditional methods such as scumbling and glazing, allowing the painting to evolve naturally until it feels complete.
The finished work sits somewhere between abstraction and realism, offering space for both recognition and imagination. The image continues around the sides of the canvas and is signed on the side, so no frame is needed and it is ready to hang. For display purposes, the painting has been photographed against a white background.
