This is an oil on card painting of boats scattered on the beach at Emsworth in Chichester Harbour, with one single sail raised which is red, and that stands out amongst the various dinghies that are arranged around it. Emsworth was once an Oyster fishery and during the C19th the industry flourished, although sadly it is no more. The boats scattered on the beach lie where the Oysters used to be dredged as a colourful reminder of its past.
