……I watched this train come through Newark Station as an 11 year old boy in the 60’s- watching by the road bridge over the tracks and getting the steam and smuts in my eyes as it would come through at high speed

The LNER Class A4 4468 Mallard is a British steam locomotive that set the world speed record for steam traction at 126 mph (203 km/h) on July 3, 1938. Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, this streamlined locomotive is a premier example of 1930s engineering and is currently preserved at the National Railway Museum in York

I stood on the footplate when I visited the museum 4 years ago [the 2 events being 50 years apart!]

Materials used:

Moleskine sketchbook paper and charcoal
