The Middle Ground (2025)Acrylic painting by Emmanuel Akolo

In this work, I explore the sacred intersection where the vast expanses of sky and sea meet—the verdant "middle ground" of the shoreline. I’ve used dense, textured greens to represent a world teeming with life, deliberately contrasting them against the serene, rhythmic blues of the water and atmosphere. By placing a dark landform stretching horizontally across the composition, I wanted to ground the viewer’s perspective and emphasize the delicate balance of nature. This painting is my meditation on how a single strip of vibrant life can profoundly alter our perception of an otherwise infinite horizon. I’ve captured the essence of summer scenery to evoke a sense of peace and contemplation, inviting you to witness the beauty of this transitionary space. Through these bold color fields and rhythmic brushwork, I am documenting the quiet harmony found between the elements, celebrating the subtle contrasts that define our natural world.
