Artwork description:

Video and pictures in a cardboard box 15.5x10x11.5cm (6x4x4.5in) covered with vinyl stickers, usb flashdrive, painting oil on wood 6x7x0,5cm (2.4x2.8x0.2in), paper and other materials, 2018. Each painting enclosed in the box is unique and signed on the back. Limited edition of 50 copies.

What if "The meaning of life" could be inserted in a box? This is what happens in the 50, numbered boxes of "The meaning of life" project. The gift box, in fact, cointains a USB keydrive with the video "The meaning of life"! Inside, you will also find a scroll with the instructions to realise your own "The meaning of life" video and a unique 6x7cm oil painting. Every box, for which I also designed the packaging and the covers, is signed and numbered on the bottom.

I started working on this project after seeing my nephews playing with a toy in their room. I looked at the toy and thought it was a pretty interesting representation of what I believe is the meaning of life. I decided, then, to make a video of that very same object working on its own. This is the beginning of the project "The meaning of life". I wanted, then, to create a product out of the video: a box which contains the video 'The meaning of life' and the instruction sheet to replicate it. I inserted in the box a 'making of' the project because, accumulating pictures and material while working, I started understanding that it was getting a second, finer meaning: maybe, working on a project to show my ideas and trying to involve people in it was the meaning of life. Maybe, the meaning of life was creativity itself.
