DESCRIPTION

This still life, unusual in its meanings, plays with the viewer through unexpected compositional decisions and deep symbolism. The still life is composed, like a puzzle, of halves of pears and tomatoes to prompt the viewer to philosophical reflections on the duality and complexity of this world. The fruits and vegetables seem to levitate in space, creating a surreal picture of being, where everything is intertwined and ambiguous. On the outside, it is a pear, but inside, it is a tomato's heart, and a tomato, on the contrary, can have a sweet pear core...
If you only look at the exterior, you will never understand the essence. The golden background in the composition is meant to enhance the theatrical effect of this illusory spectacle, as well as to concentrate the composition and strengthen the effect of objects levitating in space.

The idea of deconstructing objects, as if separating their parts in temporal and spatial dimensions, the ambiguity of the first perception, its illusiveness - that is what became the leitmotif of this work, as well as others that are part of the "Halves" series.
