Original artwork description

The Lines That Gave Support
Series: Forms of Inner Balance
Acrylic and oil pastel on canvas, 50 × 70 × 1.5 cm

Concept

The Lines That Gave Support is part of the Forms of Inner Balance series and explores inner support as something shaped through lived experience. Each line on the canvas represents a trace of a moment, a choice, or an emotional state that contributed to growth and stability. These lines are not signs of damage, but of grounding — experiences that became support.

Rather than depicting balance as something rigid or complete, the work presents it as organic and evolving. Layers of color and intersecting lines form a visual metaphor for how strength is built gradually, through vulnerability, acceptance, and time.

Visual Description

The composition resembles an abstract inner landscape formed by intersecting planes and flowing lines. Semi-transparent layers create depth and a sense of calm movement, while the linear elements connect the forms like roots holding the ground together.

The overall impression is one of quiet stability, presence, and gentle resilience.

Color Palette

The painting is created in a restrained earthy and neutral palette, including shades of olive green, moss green, sage, warm beige, sand, ochre, muted brown, ivory, and soft off-white. Transparent layering allows light to pass through the surface, creating a calm, meditative atmosphere.

Technique and Methods

Created using mixed media on canvas, combining acrylic and oil pastel. Acrylic layers establish soft color fields and spatial depth, while oil pastel emphasizes the lines — traces of experience, connections, and inner structure.

Techniques include layered painting, transparent glazing, fine linear accents, and a balance between intuitive gesture and intentional composition.
