An old librarian/scholar (that looks like an odd cross between Leo Tolstoy and Ivan the Terrible) is contemplating his life of study and at the same time questioning, near the end of his days, whether or not he could have spent his time better!
A heavily detailed drawing done in heavy crosshatching, featuring heavy contrasts and some real life books on the shelf behind the figure (for example, the Fall of the Roman Empire, with it`s gradually crumbling pillars on the cover)
