I painted this picture from life, observing the car and the garden around it.
I wanted to preserve my first, vivid impression of this quiet and cozy place.
The old light-colored car became the main character of the painting, and I tried to convey its character and mood.
Around it, I saw lots of greenery, flowers, light, and bright colors that especially caught my attention.
Working from life, I wanted to capture not only the shapes of the objects but also the feeling of a warm summer day.
I used loose, energetic brushstrokes to preserve the spontaneity of what I saw.
The title “The Good Neighbor” came from a feeling of warmth and affection for this simple, familiar image.
I wanted the viewer to feel the same peaceful and kind atmosphere that I experienced while painting this scene.
