I decided to create the “Golden Series of Female Portraits,” intended to express female strength, confidence, beauty, and spirituality, and to portray femininity as I understand it. This portrait is the first in the series and was created using soft pastel chalks and pastel pencils on pastel paper.
I use a special technique based on recognizing the abstract within the concrete and making the connections between these abstract forms visible in order to convey the spirit and essence of the subject. I pay particular attention to the woman’s expression and emotions—her desires, what she wants to tell us in this moment, and what moves her and lives in her heart.
In some areas, I like to work with broad, expressive strokes, while in others I focus on fine details, such as the left side of the face or the jewelry.
