Original artwork description:

Art Nouveau-style drawing inspired by the enigma of sleep, which has always been seen as a magical and important time, so much so that almost every culture in the world has deities and creatures who are protectors of rest or dreams. According to the Celts, for example, sleep was a female supernatural entity, Caer Ibormeith, goddess of the earth and the Underworld, of prophetic dreams, of magic derived from music and song so melodious that the whole of Ireland fell asleep for three days and nights. Aengus, god of youth, falling in love with her, recognized her among 150 girls transformed into swans after severing the strings of the magic-sounding harp, the creator of the spell propitiated by the moon. The female figure, wrapped in fluid, dreamlike forms, symbolizes the inner journey and the struggle between reality and dream. In making this work, I explored the fusion of expressionism and realism, using pencil and ink on cardboard support to capture a moment of deep emotion and enigma.
