In this landscape painting wild flowers cover the ground like a thick duvet. Inspired by a local flower meadow, crimson clovers snuggle together comfortably with wild daisies. Crimson clover for its rich cultural and agricultural significance, often associated with passion and love. Wild daisies traditionally symbolise youthfulness and innocence. In the Victorian language of flowers they are associated with keeping secrets, and the phrase ‘I’ll never tell’. In the hazy distance there is a hedgerow, and a cluster of trees. Glimmers of silver and gold leaf embellishment are seen in close up details of this painting, which is painted on British-made Loxley canvas, and is strung at the back, ready to hang.

Materials used:

Acrylic, ink, silver leaf, gold leaf
