This painting of the Fish Shack with the North Lookout Tower just behind it was made in early summer this year. Two fishermen are preparing the catch for sale to the many people who stroll along the footpath. Another man is tidying the Reuben-William boat in readiness for the next trip. The usual clutter of the fishermen's trade is cluttered around the site.
I sat on my stool and sketched this scene then laid a couple of washes down starting with wet-in-wet Cobolt blue for the sky and then the beach with mixtures of Raw Sienna, Light Red and some grey for the shadow. I then added the detail of the boats and all the fishing paraphernalia. Please note, the width is 28cm not 26cm.
Windsor & Newton artist quality watercolours; Cobolt Blue, Light Red, Raw Sienna and Paynes Grey with black fine line pen on Bockingford 200lb Not HP watercolour paper.
