A chalice raised to silence, where matter remembers and words fade away.
With The Chalice of Silence, Philippe Buil offers a powerful and symbolic sculpture, on the border between ritual and meditation.
This work represents a stemmed glass whose bowl takes the form of a skull, made of metal lace combining steel and bronze. The openwork, vibrant material allows light to pass through, revealing a play of solids and voids that is characteristic of the artist's work.
The chalice, a symbol of celebration and transmission, becomes here a receptacle for silence, memory and time. The skull does not evoke the end, but rather an awareness of the ephemeral, inviting silent, inner contemplation.
Through his raw and organic treatment of metal, Philippe Buil transforms a familiar object into a powerful contemporary work, where the apparent fragility of lace contrasts with the solidity of steel and bronze.
Unique original piece, signed, accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.
Steel base diameter 10 cm.
