"Although I am more of a flower painter, I also like to explore other subjects, always in a gestural style, like abstract painting or architecture. Whether painting modern cities or elements of historical architecture, these constructions are witnesses of human creation".

This piece is part of a new series inspired by the French writer and artist Victor Hugo and his famous book "Notre dame de Paris". This cathedral recently suffered a serious fire, but it remains a major element of French historic Gothic architecture. The style of Victor Hugo's book, "Notre Dame de Paris", is the true, dramatic and disturbing romanticism of the 19th century, which is the antithesis of classicism, but nowadays is wrongly perceived as a notion of angelic sweetness. Evoking the dramatic Romanticism of the cathedral as Victor Hugo saw it, makes it possible to interpret this architectural vision in a contemporary and personal way. This painting is a humble tribute to the surrealist and tormented artistic universe of the Polish painter Beksinski.

This painting is done in a gestural, modern and spontaneous style. It is done in monochrome, acrylic with many textures. The main colour is a yellow brown, declined in shades of darker transparent browns. Metallic paint veils in glaze accentuate the textural effects, in a troubling play of reflections.

The painting will be delivered signed on the front and back, ready to hang with a system on the back, with an invoice and a signed certificate of authenticity. The shipment is carefully packed and tracked.
