This painting unfolds as a quiet field of accumulation—layers of softened gray, charcoal black, and muted light suspended in a state of listening. Scraped textures, ghosted forms, and incised lines surface and recede, suggesting memory not as a fixed image, but as something repeatedly touched, altered, and partially erased.
Part of The Breath of Memory series, the work holds the tension between weight and release. Darkened lower passages ground the composition, while the lighter upper space feels atmospheric and unresolved, like a thought mid-breath. The surface records presence through restraint, inviting prolonged looking and an intimate encounter with what lingers beneath recall.
Artist Statement:
My practice is rooted in intuition, process, and emotional honesty. I work through abstraction as a language for the unseen — gestures of thought, breath, and recollection translated through paint. Each piece begins with an impulse rather than a plan, allowing the work to unfold as memory itself does: layered, imperfect, and human.
