"Whispers in Blue" Series - Inspiration:
This collection of five textured figurative paintings was born from a gallery’s open-ended challenge to explore the interplay of florals and lace—themes I interpreted through a lens of feminine mystery and organic elegance. Each piece layers bold palette knife strokes with delicate floral motifs, imagining a woman immersed in her own secret garden. The blue dress, recurring across the series, became a symbol of serenity and resilience, while the textured blooms echo the fleeting beauty of nature.
Process & Theme: Working in a 16"x20" format, I embraced mixed media to build tactile depth—sculpting lace-like folds with a palette knife, then contrasting them with wild, impressionistic florals. The series evolved into a meditation on how women carry landscapes within themselves: sometimes soft as petals, sometimes strong as stems bending in the wind. For me, these pieces are about duality—the lace’s fragility against the boldness of the palette knife, the solitude of the figure against the riot of blooms.
