The Beauty Queen
The Beauty Queen just happened, and she was beautiful to me.
So my mind wandered to the queen part.
I remembered my art teacher at the Teacher’s College telling us the following:
He said we have to know that we would be only twice in our lives a Queen.
No matter what the sequence would be, but it would be when we stand as a teacher, for the first time, in front of our own class and then when you walk as a bride towards your husband to-be.
And so it happened, in my heart, then, I was a queen.
Later that day I walked past the mirror and I saw my mum staring back at me.
I was in no doubt - a queen, I will be no more.
Many layers of paint and acrylic paste medium was used to create this painting. The gold background is gold leaf paint and mixed media.
