This is an important historical feature of the medieval town of Sandwich in Kent.
I love it’s imposing presence as a gateway into the town, and how it has survived modern traffic schemes wars and developments.
It was built to defend the town from frequent French raids, such as the Battle of Sandwich in 1217.
It measures 16” x 20” unframed (20” x 23” in its painted hardwood frame). It is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
