The Balm of Compassion (2013) Original Painting by Gray Jacobik

This is a small, dynamic, encaustic work that for all its size (6x6x1) is highly complex and intricate. Dominated by turquoise and rose, blues, reds, pinks, greens are brought into play in a pattern that is fluid and dramatic. I think of compassion as a dynamic force, thus the title for this piece. Easy to image this on a half-wall, an entryway or bathroom, or as part of a group of paintings. I've used powdered pigment and oil stick along with the encaustic paint, and there are several layers which add depth to this piece as well.
