Tensioned Cubic Spaces I (2025) Sculpture by Roberto Canduela Luengo
20 x 30 x 20cm
£513.48
Artwork description
*Tensioned Cubic Spaces I* is an original contemporary steel sculpture from the Tensioned Cubic Spaces series by Canduela.
The work explores the relationship between geometric volume, tension, balance and empty space. Cubic and rectangular steel forms appear to expand in different directions while slender linear elements connect and tension the composition, creating a dynamic equilibrium between weight and lightness.
Although constructed from steel and based on rigorous geometric forms, the sculpture deliberately avoids a static appearance. The tilted volumes, intersecting planes and open spaces create a sense of movement and instability, allowing the composition to change as it is viewed from different angles.
Its deep blue finish emphasizes the architectural character of the piece, while the marble base provides a visual counterpoint to the suspended and apparently unstable geometry above it.
The work reflects influences from geometric abstraction, Cubism and Constructivism, while developing a contemporary sculptural language centered on space itself: the voids between the steel elements become as important as the solid forms.
