In Memory Grid, I worked with the idea that memory is spatial — that it settles into shapes, compresses into corners, or stretches across time like overlapping rooms. As I painted, I wasn’t thinking of specific moments, but rather the sensation of remembering — how some things remain vivid, while others blur into suggestion. I allowed the forms to settle into place almost intuitively, yet held them together with an internal logic, like how thoughts sometimes organize themselves when we’re not trying too hard. This work, like many in SYNTAX, is my way of thinking through space — not physical space alone, but the mental and emotional structures we carry within.
