This work is a hybrid of painting and relief sculpture, formed from offcuts of wood arranged into a precise formal composition and painted on. I wanted to try and translate some of the ideas used in my painting into three dimensions, and to experiment with found materials and the process of assemblage. The work is influenced by modernist abstraction, Russian Constructivism, and the work of artists such as Wyndham Lewis and Kurt Schwitters.

Materials used:

wooden offcuts, frame, acrylic paint, wood glue
