Swan Inn (2024)Collage by Dee Evans
40 x 40cm (unframed) / 27 x 27cm (actual image size)
£155
Original artwork description
I am motivated by colour and love to make bright mixed media collages. I use many different materials including newsprint and magazine cuttings and sometimes textile fragments. I also collect and use items from travels (near and far) such as paper napkins, menus and flyers. However I make my own acrylic monoprints and these form the biggest part of the acrylic collages I make. The papers I want to use (from a vast collection) are selected and then cut or torn to the shape needed. They are then assembled to form a semi abstract composition and in this case were fixed to mountboard.
The process is quite time consuming in trying to find the exact, colour, shape and tone of paper or other material to use. If viewers feel cheered and uplifted by my work, then I feel I have achieved my aim. My visits to the many harbours along the North Norfolk Coast provided the inspiration for this collage and it is supplied in a white mount ready for framing

Acrylic paint, papers and mountboard
