Original artwork description
It is early summer here in Kent, and I am working outside to the accompaniment of birdsong.
This is the third in a series of paintings I have called Superfloral. They are abstracted but inspired by summer flowers and light, and by my own feelings of joy and happiness in summer.
Building up many layers of colour, using top quality Golden paints and spattering, using brushes, rags and palette knives to create a rich and textured surface with tonal depth is my aim. My canvas is worked both on the ground and on an easel - this allows me to add layers of watercolor like painting without it all dripping to the bottom the canvas! When on the easel in the last stages, I am able to stand back and look, I spend more time looking than working at this stage and I try to asses balance, colour and overall feel.
this 70x70cm painting in unframed. It has white painted edges and is strung with picture cord ready to hang.
