SUNSET OVER VOLCANO - NAPLES, ITALY is a textured impasto palette knife oil painting on stretched canvas, sizes 60x25 cm ( 24x10 inches), depth 2.5 cm ( 1 inch ).
I traveled few times to Naples, Italy and was inspired to paint this gorgeous night view.

Naples ( Napoli ) is the regional capital of Campania and the third-largest city of Italy, after Rome and Milan. Founded by Greeks in the first millennium BC, Naples is one of the oldest continuously inhabited urban areas in the world.

Mount Vesuvius is a somma–stratovolcano located on the Gulf of Naples in Campania, Italy, about 9 km (5.6 mi) east of Naples and a short distance from the shore. It is one of several volcanoes forming the Campanian volcanic arc. Vesuvius consists of a large cone partially encircled by the steep rim of a summit caldera, resulting from the collapse of an earlier, much higher structure. The eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis, Stabiae and other settlements.
