"Sunset in the Volga river" is one of my sunsets series painted in the Volga river. It is 50 x 60cm a palette knife oil impressionistic landscape painting.
This artwork is a vibrant impressionistic painting of a tranquil lakeside scene at sunset. The sky dominates the composition, filled with swirling hues of light blue, lavender, peach, and warm orange, capturing the fleeting beauty of dusk. These colors are reflected across the rippling surface of the water, which is rendered in dynamic shades of blue and violet. Along the horizon, a dark strip of land suggests distant trees or hills, while closer to the foreground, textured brushstrokes depict grassy marshes and reeds. A small, indistinct object—possibly a rock or a piece of driftwood—floats gently in the lower right portion of the water, adding a touch of realism. The use of color and movement gives the piece a peaceful yet emotionally resonant atmosphere, evoking both calm and wonder.
