‘Sunset Across The Vale’ is an oil painting on linen which depicts the sun setting over a country landscape. I live and work in Cadiz Province on the Costa de la Luz in south-west Spain. With its sparkling light, the Costa de la Luz - the coast of light - has long been a magnet for artists, and like many artists before me, I was drawn to it. It is in the landscape that I make drawings before going into the studio to make pieces of work which are a distillation of ideas rather than directly representational pieces. Fluid and evocative, my landscape paintings explore the world we see and strive to find something new and interesting to say about it.
