This miniature was painted on plain-air early in the morning. The distant forest is barely visible through the frosty air. I wanted to convey the feeling of silence and freshness of the beginning of the day. The painting is done impasto, with an expressive texture, despite the small format. It looks good as an independent work or in a collection of miniatures.
