Sunrise (2016) Original Mixed-media Painting by Filothei Croonen

A 50x70cm mixed media painting on 350gr acrylic paper. Acrylics, mediums, fine sand and acrylic ink is the material used.

Many times I try new techniques and new material on paper and I make backgrounds which I leave aside for sometime. One day one of them will be the surface to start a new painting. They might continue were they left or totally change at the end. "Sunrise" is one of them.
One more cityscape of a city that is just waking up. Dark and bright at the same time.

I started without having a "building plan" for this place and it was in a way created and build on its own. While creating it my memory traveled in places I have been, emotions I have experienced. When I look at the painting I can clearly see and recognize that path. "Sunrise" surprised me from begging to end and I must admit it is for me a very special artwork. Some paintings sometimes give you a unique feeling and "Sunrise" is one of them.
