This work is part of the series “German Landscapes.” It was created during a plein air session in the village of Urbach, not far from Nordhausen. I lived in this village during my first three months in Germany. The air here is fresh, the nature is beautiful, and the people are very friendly — it was here that I first experienced the German tradition of strangers greeting each other on the street, which pleasantly surprised me.

The painting depicts a warm, sunny autumn day. A quiet street with private houses, trees, and a road filled with sunlight and contrasting shadows. The sky is clear blue. The atmosphere conveys calmness, carefreeness, joy, and peace.

I invite you to enjoy these beautiful moments as well. Not everyone loves rural life, but there is something special about it. Here, you learn to slow down, to reflect more deeply on life. It is quiet on the outside, allowing you to hear yourself more clearly and reconsider things.
