“Sunny bunny” from the series “Marfa’s Dogs”.
Marfa’s Dogs were born in silence, in a foreign land, in exile — at a moment when I was alone with myself and distant from society.
I imprinted my back — as proof that I exist. And on this trace, beings appeared — tender, awkward, touching, attentive.
I use the image of an animal to reveal emotions that people often hide.
They are portraits of the inner child.
Or of the creature that lives within each of us when we grow tired of pretending.
There is a contrast between mood and color: bright, rainbow-like palettes, and at the same time — quiet sadness, fragility, and silence. This creates a strong emotional resonance.
The gaze: all of them look into us, not at the camera, not outward. As if they already know something about the viewer.
A touch of theatre, a hint of clownery — and behind it, a moving vulnerability.
