Original artwork description
This original watercolor was captured during a mid-summer plein air session in July 2025 at the historic Burg Linn in Krefeld. Standing before the 12th-century moated fortress, I was captivated by the interplay between the ancient, weathered limestone and the vibrant, lush greenery of the surrounding English-style park. The July sun created a dramatic geometry of shadows against the donjon, reflecting centuries of history in the still waters of the moat. My goal was to translate that specific moment of afternoon quietude—where the weight of the Middle Ages meets the ephemeral lightness of a summer breeze. Using a traditional transparent technique, I focused on "catching the sunbeams" to bring a sense of luminous serenity to your space.
