Painting from the series Spatial history.
Spatial history, is a series of autobiographical landscapes, with emotional, personal connection to significant place identity and the passage of time.
Summerland was produced after the death of a much loved family member, and is both a celebration and reflection of time spent with them in a much loved place. During the painting process I explore the fine line between pure abstraction and figurative recognition, between chance and control using water based oil and acrylic.
I would like to convey a mood, an atmosphere, a saudade ( a love that remains ) for the viewer.
The painting is signed on the canvas side and ready to hang.
