Mid morning light,
Blues, pale pink and lavender shades,
Seeing old oak trees and colourful grasses,
As I paint, the wind keeps changing directions,
The heat starts to rise.

Original impressionist watercolour on textured Fabriano 300gsm 140lb.
I created this watercolour in the landscape plein air in early July. I used a Chinese brush and wet the paper to apply the wet on wet washes for the sky plus background. With my filbert brush I shaped the oak tree by dabbing, pressing the paint on with many shades using a three colour technique. I used my Japanese high pigment watercolours. I scraped out the paint with my nail for the grass detail in the foreground.
