This painting explores the form of a male. When I look at the art world and the paintings produced through time, I note there seems to not be many painters exploring the male form. Here I explore the form and the structure of the male torso, while the man stares into space, daydreaming, seeking a knowing of the world around him or thinking about what it means to be a man in the world. This painting also explores the use of black and white paint, investigating ways one can use tone and shade to bring about form, using contrasts to bring alive the form of the man's body through this sticky material we call paint and through an observation over time.
