I've always liked Caravaggio's portraits for his choice of models - with most of them being ordinary working people, his angels and saints always have that edgy, full of character and attitude feel. This figure reminds me of that. Also the strong chiaroscuro is something that connects my image to the great maestro's heritage.
The work is in ink and dry pastel on paper. Secured with archival fixative.
