I was struck by the sense of composition in a photograph of Kathy Kay's (ID 41386304 available from ), and this work in oil on linen is based on that image (I purchased the right to use). What struck me, beside the inherent drama of a storm in retreat, was the complimentary contrast in the blue and orange, as well as through the warm browns (almost wine) of the sands and the peach shades in the sky. The triangular shapes play off of one another heightening the drama as well and advancing my goal of painting a seascape that's a bit out of the ordinary. Signed and dated in verso, this painting is framed in a mahogany plein air frame (wood), that adds 3 inches (7.6 cm) on all sides. It ships with a digitally-registered Certificate of Authenticity.

Materials used:

linen (as stretched canvas), oil paint, wooden frame
