Artwork description
Photographed near Julian, near San Diego, California in 2009, with a Leica M10.
I surfed in the morning then hired an early version electric car and drove through the desert into the mountains. It started to snow and the road froze over super fast. This view was waiting around the corner of a very icy road. I was driving at a snails pace as the decent was steep and the car was two wheel drive electric.
The storm tree was like a painting, just there in front of me. The storm was approaching from behind. I jumped out to shoot as many frames as I felt comfortable, knowing I had to get of the mountain as soon as possible.
All my work is full frame, not cropped and as it was in life. I print each image and no not outsource anything. I use the finest archival paper by Hahnemuhle, usually Bamboo for it's tonal range and environmental credentials.
