Light and shadow gently play hide and seek in this deserted French stairwell. Piano music echoes, timeless and soothing. A hint of stew cooking, scents of baking, rosemary, cardamon and freshly roasted coffee. Yet nothing disturbs the mystery. The walls are textured, layered, story upon story. Creams and whites and pinks, corners of shadow, home to spirits perhaps, or mice. The work is a wonderful piece of France to cherish, a great gift, a perfect collection starter. The canvas is 0.4 inches deep and therefore it can hang without a frame if wished.
